Jesus said, “Is a lamp brought in to be put under a bushel basket, or under a bed, and not on a lampstand? For there is nothing hidden, except to be disclosed; nor is anything secret, except to come to light. Let anyone with ears to hear listen!” — Mark 4: 21-23
First Church's ministry of evangelism seeks to bring the light of God from beneath bushel baskets and beds and place it high on a lampstand for all to see.
Evangelistic ministries include:
Opportunity Fair: An annual event held in the fall that features the myriad ministries and programs of the congregation and the ways in which members of the congregation can become personally involved. This year's Opportunity Fair will coincide with Sunday School Rally Day on Sunday, September 7, 2008.
Orientation Classes: Each year, in the spring and in the fall, two eight-week classes are held for persons interested in learning more about First Church as well as becoming active members of the congregation.
Volunteer Opportunity:
The Evangelism Council is currently seeking volunteers to staff a welcome center in the Gathering Area on Sunday mornings in thirty-minute shifts. Our mission is to foster a warm and inviting atmosphere to all who enter our doors by greeting and welcoming guests and providing information about Sunday school and other church functions. To volunteer, or to obtain more infomation, contact Beth Kane, Evangelism Coordinator at bethkane@firstchurch-winchester.org or 662-3824.
